This new venture of Andy Beckstoffer-in Lake County-was selected for its similarity to the best Cabernet growing sites in Napa Valley. At 2000 feet of elevation with volcanic soil heavily laden with obsidian, it is an exceptional site.
Predominately Cabernet Sauvignon, the addition of small amounts of Cab Franc and Malbec give this wine added depth and character. Black cherry, black currant, and earth dominate this dark flavored Cab. Light oak on the nose, dark chocolate, dusty and bittersweet.
For drinking now, decant this wine for an hour or more. Balanced, well structured with acidity and tannins to insure that -with proper cellaring- this wine will continue to improve for five to eight years.

2006 Montepuluciano

Love Italian varietals? Looking for a great Italian style wine? In California? Look no further! The first vintage of our 2006 Montepuluciano.
Montepulciano is an Italian varietal. In 2006, only 50 tons of Montepulciano were produced in the entire state of California. We got a little over a ton!
The grapes that we purchased are from the Nova's Dunnigan Hills Vineyard.
Our Montepulciano has been made in the classic style.
An earthy nose of moist forest floor, spice, and olde English roses. Followed by ripe dark fruits-plum, black cherries, almond, a hint of cedar and bitter chocolate. A smoky plum finish.
Firm tannins and balanced acidity make this a great food wine. It is suave and sophisticated.
We only made 65 cases. Since it is new for us and so rare, we have been drinking this with friends and colleagues to determine when it will be ready for release. Recently the response has been "WOW!!!! Smooth, delicious, BERRIES. When can we get some?"
This wine says "Drink me now!"
